The new FLIR MS Series has won a Special Mention in the 2011 DAME Awards at the METS Show in Amsterdam.

The MS is FLIR's new baby of the range, offering the US thermal imaging specialist's technology at a new smaller price point and in a very compact package. du Pré Marine has a demonstration unit available.

The 2011 DAME Awards Jury said the FLIR MS Series is "A new, affordable, compact and light handheld thermal imaging camera which is easy-to-use by way of four buttons on top of the unit. It comes with an LED task light to help illuminate small areas and has long-life rechargeable Li-Ion batteries that can operate for five to seven hours on a single load."

DAME Award Jury Chairman Bill Dixon said he was "delighted with the quality of this year's entries...although manufacturers are clearly very conscious of their price points during these difficult economic times, it was great to see that the marine industry is still as inspired and creative as ever.

FLIR previously won the main DAME Award for the FLIR M-Series M-626L in 2009.
