Sea-me RTE radar reflectordu Pré Marine is celebrating its appointment as a dedicated distributor of Sea-me active radar reflectors by offering a special Swappage Scheme enabling all owners of the older Single Band model to upgrade to Dual Band, enhancing their boat's visibility to latest generation radars.

The du Pré Marine swappage scheme makes upgrade easy if you own the original Sea-me Single Band RTE. We will sell you a Sea-me Dual Band model for the price of a Single Band, UK carriage free. We have two hassle-free options for how to do this and our offer is running until 30 September 2010 or until we sell 100 units, whichever happens first.

Plus ask about the discounts we can offer you for purchasing a Kahlenberg K460 single trumpet air horn or Kahlenberg K380 twin trumpet air horn to upgrade your sound signalling to IMO standards.

For more information about the Sea-Me Dual Band RTE and to place your Swappage order call the Sea-me Swappage Hotline on +44 (0)1635 88 45 45 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

What's involved in upgrading?

Upgrading your Single Band to the Dual Band Sea-me is simplicity itself. Only the aerial changes, nothing else. You retain the wiring and the Control Box. Just cut the cable as close to the old aerial as possible, take the Single Band off its mount and replace with the Dual Band, then connect using the supplied waterproof IP68-rated connector.

Five key reasons for buying a Sea-me Dual Band RTE

  1. The Sea-me Dual Band RTE responds to X band and S band radar, enhancing visibility to all shipping over 3000 tons.
  2. Sea-me boasts an average of 34sqm radar cross section and a maximum of 63sqm, six times better than the current requirement for a passive radar reflector.
  3. Sea-me emits a stronger signal than it receives, increasing detection range.
  4. The Sea-me Dual Band RTE Dual Band unit uses just 150mA on standby and 350mA when transmitting.
  5. The Sea-me control box works with Single Band and Dual Band units; it indicates when your boat is 'struck' by a radar signal and can be linked to an audible alarm.

The Sea-me Dual Band meets ISO 8729-2:2009 and responds to radar pulses at both X and S bands; vital for being seen by ships over 3000 tons that have to carry both types of radar by law. In open waters S Band is preferred by vessels because it can better cope with heavy rain and sea clutter; all older generations of radar target enhancers (RTEs) or active radar reflectors only respond to X band.
