FLIR M-Series
The FLIR M-Series combines a thermal imaging camera with the option of a low light camera in one extremely neat and robust housing. It provides crisp, clear thermal imagery in total darkness and light fog or smoke.
Packaged in a small, ultra-compact gimbal the FLIR M-Series is designed for the most demanding boating and maritime applications. It is a perfect tool for night time navigation, shipboard security, man overboard situations, anti-piracy and many other applications. The FLIR M-Series sets a new standard for everything from aesthetic design to technical capability in a small installed profile.
It was named winner of the prestigious 2009 DAME Awards for the M-626L model (now the 625L). Further models have since been introduced including the FLIR M-612L long-distance high resolution model.
M-Series features
Thermal imaging camera and low light camera - a perfect combination for the darkest of nights, or when at least some light like moonlight or back-scatter like waterfront lighting is present.
Choice of systems - the FLIR M-324L and M-324XP are both equipped with a Vanadium Oxide microbolometer detector that produces crisp thermal images of 320 x 240 pixels.
The FLIR M-625L and M-625XP produce infrared images of 640 x 480 pixels on which the smallest of details can be seen.
The FLIR M-612L has a specialist 12° field of view lens that can detect small vessels out to 1.8nm (3.2km).
All of the L models additionally have a lowlight CCD with a 768 x 494 resolution providing for daylight imaging.
Designed for use in harsh maritime environments - FLIR M-Series cameras operate between -25°C and +55°C and are extremely rugged. The core is rated to IP66 and is well protected against humidity and water. A built-in heater ensures a clear lens.
Easy-to-use Pan/Tilt system - utilising an intuitive joystick control which allows the captain to see 360° horizontal and/or +/-90° vertically, offering excellent situational awareness.
Lightweight and versatile - can be installed at any position on board, ball up or down.
Remote control panel - a remote Joystick Control Unit (JCU) is rated to IP66 and operates the Pan/Tilt, zoom, camera switch, image quality and on screen menus. Additional JCUs are optionally available for additional control locations.
Electronic zoom - 2X electronic zoom on the 324 models and 2x and 4x electronic zoom on the 612 and 625 models.
Image freezing - the FLIR M-Series allow you to pause the video, freezing the current image on the screen, useful to more closely examine objects under observation.
Parking position - the FLIR M-Series can be set to a 'parking position' to protect the lens. This assures that the valuable lenses of the thermal imaging and the low light camera are protected.
Display - images can be displayed on virtually any existing multifunction display that accepts composite video such as a chartplotter, computer display or television. Two video outputs are provided, one from the thermal camera only and the other from both; switchable from the JCU. du Pré Marine can supply suitable displays if required.
